New Member Mallika Leuzinger joins as Research Scholar and Lecturer for Visual and Media Anthropology
Mallika Leuzinger joins HCTS as a researcher and lecturer at the Department of Visual and Media Anthropology. Her work interweaves ethnography and archival research to explore the development of postcolonial modernity in South Asia in relation to the politics of gender, race and caste, with a focus on everyday technologies such as the camera. Her PhD thesis (PhD obtained from University College London), entitled "Dwelling in Photography: Intimacy, Amateurism and the Camera in South Asia," was awarded the Bayly Prize by Royal Asiatic Society. Mallika was a postdoctoral fellow at the German Historical Institute London, the Zentrum Moderner Orient Berlin and Princeton University. She just returned from Singapore where she held a Global Indo-Pacific Global Mobility Fellowship by the Asia Research Institute at the National University of Singapore. Welcome, Mallika!
